my country’s biofuel ethanol has huge development space

n recent years, biofuel ethanol has achieved rapid development worldwide. Although my country has a certain production capacity in this field, there is still a significant gap compared with developed countries. In the long run, the development of biofuel ethanol will better promote the balance of food supply and demand and drive rural economic development

“The biofuel ethanol industry has become a new economic growth point and an important measure to develop the rural economy. my country’s biofuel ethanol production is currently about 2.6 million tons, which is still a significant gap compared with developed countries, and further promotion is needed. “Qiao Yingbin, a chemical technology expert and former director of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Sinopec, said at the media communication meeting held recently.

Biofuel ethanol can be made into ethanol gasoline for vehicles. Industry experts believe that the significance of developing biofuel ethanol is to solve agricultural problems. For many years, my country has been increasing the intensity of in-situ conversion of corn, and one of the ways out is to develop biofuel ethanol.
International experience shows that the development of biofuel ethanol can establish long-term, stable and controllable processing and transformation channels for bulk agricultural products, and improve the country’s ability to regulate the grain market. For example, the United States uses 37% of the total corn output to produce fuel ethanol, which maintains the price of corn; Brazil, through the co-production of sugarcane-sugar-ethanol, ensures the stability of domestic sugarcane and sugar prices and safeguards the interests of farmers.

“The development of biofuel ethanol is conducive to promoting the balance of food supply and demand, forming a virtuous cycle of food production and consumption, thereby stabilizing agricultural production, opening up channels for farmers to increase income, and driving agricultural efficiency and rural economic development. The industrial foundation of fuel ethanol is conducive to the revitalization of the Northeast.” said Yue Guojun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

According to estimates, my country’s annual production of overdue and over-standard grains can support a certain scale of biofuel ethanol production. In addition, the annual trade volume of corn and cassava in the international market reaches 170 million tons, and 5% can be converted into nearly 3 million tons of biofuel ethanol. The domestic annual available straw and forestry waste exceeds 400 million tons, 30% of which can produce 20 million tons of biofuel ethanol. All these provide a reliable raw material guarantee for expanding the production and consumption of biofuel ethanol and realizing sustainable development.

Not only that, bio-fuel ethanol can also reduce carbon dioxide and emissions of particulate matter, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and other harmful substances in vehicle exhaust, which is conducive to improving the ecological environment.

At present, global fuel ethanol production is 79.75 million tons. Among them, the United States used 45.6 million tons of corn fuel ethanol, accounting for 10.2% of its gasoline consumption, reduced 510 million barrels of crude oil imports, saved $20.1 billion, created $42 billion in GDP and 340,000 jobs, and increased taxes by $8.5 billion. Brazil produces 21.89 million tons of ethanol annually, more than 40% of gasoline consumption, and ethanol and bagasse power generation has accounted for 15.7% of the country’s energy supply.

The world is vigorously developing the biofuel ethanol industry, and China is no exception. In September 2017, my country proposed that by 2020, the country will basically achieve full coverage of ethanol gasoline for vehicles. At present, 11 provinces and autonomous regions in my country are piloting the promotion of ethanol gasoline, and the consumption of ethanol gasoline accounts for one-fifth of the national gasoline consumption in the same period.

my country’s biofuel ethanol production is about 2.6 million tons, accounting for only 3% of the world’s total, ranking third. The first and second are the United States (44.1 million tons) and Brazil (21.28 million tons) respectively, which shows that my country’s biofuel ethanol industry still has a lot of room for development.

After more than ten years of development in my country’s biofuel ethanol industry, the 1st and 1.5th generation production technologies using corn and cassava as raw materials are mature and stable. condition.

“my country has the advantage of leading biofuel ethanol technology. It can not only achieve the goal of using E10 ethanol gasoline nationwide in 2020, but also export technology and equipment to help other countries establish and develop biofuel ethanol industry.” Qiao Yingbin said.
